EDWARD PARKER GATES, N.C. -- Thomas Edward (Ed) Parker, 83, died Wednesday morning in a Suffolk hospital. A native of Gates County, he was a son of James Robert and Mrs. Mary Virginia Rountree Parker and the husband of Mrs. Mamie Bass Parker. He was a member of Kittrell's United Methodist Church, and Gates Hunt Club and a merchant 52 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Howard C. Holland of Alexandria; four sisters, Mrs. J.W. Boone of Seaboard, Mrs. Arthur Simpson of Suffolk, Mrs. W.F. Hill of Sunbury and Miss Virginia Parker of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in Kittrell's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Randalls. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, with Jack W. Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge.
