All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Death of Mrs. Ida Parker in Baltimore [...] Suffolk, Va., Dec. 26. - (Special.) - [...] DIED IN BALTIMORE. - Mrs. Ida Parker, wife of Surry Parker, Esq., of Plymouth, N.C., formerly of Suffolk, died in Baltimore yesterday at 11 o'clock a.m. Her remains arrived in Suffolk this morning and were carried to the residence of her father-in-law, Capt. G.T. Parker, on St. James avenue whence the funeral will take place tomorrow (Friday) at 11:30 o'clock a.m. The deceased is a daughter of Mr. S.M. Whaley, formerly of Whaleyville, Nansemond county, but now of Plymouth, N.C., and is a sister of Mr. W.M. Whaley, of Norfolk. Mrs. Parker was 26 years of age and leaves a husband and one child. The bereaved husband was raised in Suffolk and has many friends here who deeply sympathize with him and the other relatives of the deceased in this sad affliction. ****************************************************************************** Funeral of Mrs. Surry Parker - [...] Suffolk, Va., Dec. 27. - (Special.) - [...] The funeral of Mrs. Surry Parker took place at the residence of Captain George T. Parker at 12 o'clock to-day. Rev. C.C. Wertenbaker, of Franklin, a former pastor of the deceased lady, conducted the services in a very touching manner. The hymn, "Lead Me Gently Home, Father," was feelingly rendered by Miss Florence Harvey and Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Graham. At the conclusion of the services the remains were followed to their last resting place, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, by a large number of relatives and friends, the following gentlemen acting as pallbearers: R.R. Allen. A.W. Eley, E.L. Folk, Frank T. Jones, W.L. McLeod, R.H. Morgan, J.C. Smith and O.S. Smith. The grave was covered with a number of rare and beautiful floral designs.
