SUSIE PARKER Franklin. Dec. 3 - (Special) - Mrs. Susie Parker, aged 77, died of a heart attack tonight at 9 o'clock at her home here. She was the widow of Charles Parker, and was well known throughout this section. Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Nettie Parker, of Franklin, and Mrs. Nathaniel Burnley, of Charlottesville; five sons, T.S. [sic; T.L.] Parker, of Franklin; Clifton C. Parker, of Charleston, S.C.; L.W. and Joe S. Parker, of Sellers, S.C.; and Harvey O. Parker, of Washington; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements had not been completed tonight. ****************************************************************************** DEATH OF MRS. SUSIE PARKER Mrs. Susie Parker, age 77, wife of the late Charles Parker of this town, died Sunday night at the home of Mrs. Rebecca Rose in First Avenue following an illness of two weeks. Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Nettie Parker of Franklin and Mrs. N.T. Burnley of Charlottesville; five sons, Thos. L. Parker of Franklin, C.C. Parker of Charleston, S.C., L.W. Parker of Sellers, S.C., Joe Parker of Latta, S.C., and Harvey O. Parker of Washington. Mrs. Parker, who before her marriage was Miss Susie Daughtrey of Norfolk, had made her home in our town for more than half a century. She was greatly beloved here by a wide circle of friends, possessing a kindly and genial personality, and was held in high esteem for her many fine traits of Christian character as wife, mother, neighbor and friend. She was for many years a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, moving her membership to Charlottesville only a few years ago while living there with her daughter. Funeral services were conducted from the home Monday morning by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by the Rev. Roscoe Jones. Interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, where Dr. H.J. Goodwin of the First Baptist Church of that city took part in the service. The pallbearers were: Roger I. Beale, L.P. Simmons, Clarence and Herbert Cobb, Tom Canady, Ryland and John Camp and Geo. H. Parker. (Southampton Co. M.Reg. 1750-1853, p. 516) Not that her father is not identical with Dr. William Henry DAUGHTREY (b. ca. 1835), a Confederate surgeon.
