All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Funeral Today For Dr. Parker Funeral service for Dr. William Edward Parker, 44, a former resident of Suffolk and son of Mrs. Julia Brett Parker of Suffolk and the late Bauldie Edward Parker, are to be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. C.T. Topping, pastor of the Oxford Methodist Church, and the Rev. R.H. Forrester, pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church, are to officiate at the services. Burial is to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Dr. Parker died Friday night at 8:30 o'clock at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, after an illness of three months. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anette Norwood [sic*] Parker of Riviera Beach, Maryland; a son, William E. Parker, Jr. and a daughter, Julia Annette Parker, both of Riviera Beach; a brother, B.E. Parker, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Richard L. Pond and Mrs. C.B. Pond, Jr., both of Suffolk; a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church. He attended the University of Richmond and graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School. He was the holder of the Gorgas Medal of Honor, awarded to him several years after he graduated from dental school for his outstanding scholarship. Prior to his illness he was practicing dentistry at Riviera Beach. ****************************************************************************** Rites Held For Dr. W. E. Parker Funeral services for Dr. William Edward Parker, a former resident of Suffolk who died Friday night in a Baltimore hospital after an illness of three months, were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. C.T. Topping, pastor of the Oxford Methodist Church, and the Rev. R.H. Forrester, pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church, conducted the services. The Rev. Topping read the hymn and poem "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Crossing the Bar," while Mr. Forrester read the hymn "Abide With Me." The pall was of red roses, calla lilies, gardenias and lilies of the valley. Pallbearers were J.A. Dalton, J. Carr Hill, Otis Railey, Russell Brett, Royal Watson, Dr. J. Parker Cross, Dr. John Norfleet and Claud Brett. Interment took place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
