PRETLOW DIES IN NEW YORK POPULAR MEMBER OF SUFFOLK’S YOUNGER SET IS VICTIM OF SPINAL MENINGITIS Suffolk, July 15 - Robert Henley Pretlow, 23, oldest son of Dr. R.H. Pretlow and Mrs. Katherine Holladay Pretlow, of this city, died this morning in Schenectady, N.Y., after an illness of Spinal Meningitis of only 24 hours. Mr. Pretlow was a graduate of the Suffolk High School and of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and was completing his course as an electrical engineer at the plant of General Electrical Company. His mother, Mrs. R.H. Pretlow, and his brother, Francis Pretlow, were at his bedside when he died. Robert Pretlow was one of the most popular members of the Suffolk younger set. Besides his parents and brother, Mr. Pretlow is survived by a number of uncles, aunts and cousins. Messages form Schenectady advised the family that specialists from Albany were called in, but that Mr. Pretlow grew steadily worse until the end came this morning. The body will be brought to Suffolk. Funeral arrangements will be made later.
