AARON CEPHAS PRUDEN 

Cephas Pruden Dies In Home Last Night 

  A. Cephas Pruden, about 70 years of age, died in his home, 407 West 
Washington street, yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock, after an illness 
dating back before Christmas.  The funeral will be held from the residence 
tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. H.S. 
Hardcastle of the Christian church.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. 

  Mr. Pruden is survived by his widow Mrs. Mary Eve Pruden, two daughters, 
Miss Tapella Pruden and Mrs. W.J. Baines, of Suffolk; two stepchildren, Frank 
Luke, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mrs. Helen Luke Collins, of Crewe.  Other 
surviving relatives are his brothers, M.E. Pruden, of Suffolk and J.W. Pruden, 
of Nansemond county, and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Redd, of Nansemond county.
