A daughter of the late Charles Nathaniel Pruden and Lula Riddick* Pruden, of Nansemond County, she was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church. She is survived by two brothers, J.A. Pruden of Suffolk and Thomas Eugene Pruden of Chuckatuck. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by Dr. H.G. Hardcastle, pastor of Oakland Christian Church and the Rev. Casey D. Allen, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church. Burial was in the family cemetery in Nansemond County. (1476 {Charlottesville #53}) gives b. 25 Nov 1894, d. 26 Jan 1956; dt/o Charles Nathaniel and Lula Riddick Pruden; bu. Family Burying Ground, Suffolk. Her surviving brothers are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Thomas' D.Cert. (82-011343) gives their mother as Lula Russell. They married sisters Grace V. & A. Marie OLIVER. Their mother's D.Cert. gives Lulie S. Pruden, daughter of Shepard & Fannie (Riddick) Pruden, b. Sunbury, Gates Co., NC. However, she seems identical with a daughter of Wm.B.S. & {1wf} Fannie (ALPHIN) RIDDICK. The 1860 Census gives Julia, age 2; 1870, Elalia, 10; 1880, Eulalia S., 21. (Hunter's Mill, Gates Co., NC) Her sis Sallie A. RIDDICK (1855-1915) m. ca. 1873 Benjamin F. RUSSELL. She was buried in the home Graveyard, by L.M. Pierce, of Sunbury, NC. Her bro William B. RIDDICK (1867-1940) is buried in Parker's Methodist Church Cemetery, Corapeake, Gates Co., NC.
