All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Roberts, 67, Dies in Florida SUFFOLK - Mrs. Lizzie Pope Roberts, 67, of Holland Road, died Sunday at 9:40 a.m. at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Fla., after short illness. She was visiting with a daughter, Mrs. H.P. Bailey, in Miami. A daughter of John Thomas and Sarah Butler Pope of Isle of Wight County, she was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Surviving are also another daughter, Mrs. J.M. Abbott, and two sons, Franklin Pope Roberts and W.T. Roberts, of Nansemond County; two brothers, C.C. Pope of Nansemond County and Eugene Pope of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. George Johnson of Newport News and Mrs. B.E. Johnson of Norfolk and 18 grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced from Baker Funeral Home here. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Roberts Is Buried Wednesday Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Pope Roberts were conducted Wednesday at the Baker Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Rev. Harold C. Leake. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Miss Mildred Johnson and Mrs. Mary Solomon sang three numbers, "Beyond the Sunset," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone." They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. W.F. Whitley. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses. Pallbearers were Ernest Johnson, J.T. Pope, Edward Pope, Morrison Pope, Johnny Johnson and E.R. Rogers.
