She was a native of Suffolk and the widow of Carlos F. Rose. She was the daughter of the late James P. Powell and Mrs. Chettie Spivey Powell. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church and a member of Senior Fidelis Sunday School Class and First Baptist Senior Citizens. Survivors include three daughters, Violet R. Barton of Windsor, and Pansy R. Burns and Daisy R. Salmon of Suffolk; ten grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Wayne W. Poplin. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home in charge. The body will be taken from the funeral home to the church at noon Tuesday.
