Lillie Rose 

  Lillie Powell Rose, 85, of 400 Central Ave. died Sunday in Louise Obici 
Memorial Hospital.  She was a native of Suffolk and the widow of Carlos F. 
Rose.  She was the daughter of the late James P. Powell and Mrs. Chettie 
Spivey Powell. 

  She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church and a member of Senior 
Fidelis Sunday School Class and First Baptist Senior Citizens. 

  Survivors include three daughters, Violet R. Barton of Windsor, and Pansy 
R. Burns and Daisy R. Salmon of Suffolk; ten grandchildren, 19 great-
grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. 

  A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by Dr. 
Wayne W. Poplin.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with I.O. Hill and 
Co. Funeral Home in charge. 

  The body will be taken from the funeral home to the church at noon Tuesday. 
The family is at her home.

LILLIE POWELL ROSE 

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Lillie Powell Rose, 85, was held at 3 p.m. 
Tuesday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Wayne W. Poplin.  Burial was in Cedar 
Hill Cemetery with I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home in charge. 

   Mrs. Rose died Sunday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. 

   A native of Suffolk, she was the widow of Carlos F. Rose. 

   She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church and a member of Semper 
Fidelis Sunday School Class and First Baptist Senior Citizens. 

   Survivors include three daughters, Violet R. Barton of Windsor and Pansy 
R. Burns and Daisy R. Salmon of Suffolk; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-
grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
