He was the son of the late Charlie Wiggins Russell and Tulie Savage Russell, of Nansemond County. Besides his brother, with whom he made his home, others surviving are two sisters, Mrs. L.F. Horton, of Suffok and Mrs. H.L. Warren, of Whaleyville; several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb will conduct the services. Place of burial will be announced later. ****************************************************************************** CECIL WIGGINS RUSSELL Funeral services for Cecil Wiggins Russell, who died yesterday at the home of his brother, Raleigh Russell, of near Whaleyville, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home. The Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. J. Sydney Club [sic; Cobb] will conduct the services. Interment will take place in Holly Lawn Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** CECIL WIGGINS RUSSELL Suffolk, Virginia, February 3 - Age 58, died Tuesday, February 3, 1953 at 12:45 a.m. at the home of his brothers, Raleigh Russell near Whaleyville after an illness of several weeks. He was a son of the late Charlie Wiggins Russell and Tulie Savage Russell of Nansemond County. Besides his brother, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. L.T. Horton of Suffolk and Mrs. H.L. Warren of Whaleyville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 5, 1953 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb, pastor of Great Fork Baptist Church. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers: Billy Walter, David Baines, Burleigh Baines, Tommy Horton, Carlton Russell, Edward Brothers, Jessie Wiggins, and Ernest Hayes. ****************************************************************************** Cecil Wiggins Russell Buried in Holly Lawn Funeral services for Cecil Wiggins Russell, who died Tuesday morning at the home of his brother Raleigh Russell of near Whaleyville, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home with the Rev. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb officiating. Burial followed in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. William Jakeman and Mrs. J.E. Edwards, Jr., accompanied by Mrs. Webb Pinner, sang "Breathe on Me." Mrs. Jakeman sang as a solo "Beyond the Sunset." The Rev. Brittle read the poems "The House by the Side of the Road" and "Crossing the Bar." The pall was of red roses and white carnations. Pallbearers were Billy Walters, David Baines, Burleigh Baines, Tommy Horton, Carlton Russell, Edward Brothers, Jesse Wiggins and Ernest Hayes.
