JAMES ALFRED RUSSELL

JAMES ALFRED RUSSELL, 69, SUFFOLK LAND, CAR DEALER

   SUFFOLK. James Alfred Russell, 69, president of Mid-City Land Corp. and an 
automobile dealer here 43 years, died Monday at 9:20 a.m. in his home in 
Everetts Bridge.

   He was the husband of Mrs. Emma William Russell and a son of Charles B. and 
Mrs. Nettie Ballard Russell of Gates County. He was born in Nansemond County.

   For 43 years, he was president of Suffolk Motor Co. and recently was still 
associated with the firm.

   He was a member of the L.L. Hoggard Sunday school class of First Baptist 
Church, Suffolk Elks Lodge 685, and Travelers Protective Association.

   Besides his widow, surviving are five sisters, Mrs. J.W. Poulson, and Mrs. 
_.W. Folk of Suffolk, Mrs. Raymond Brown of Ivor, Mrs. A.J. Woodhouse of 
Norfolk, and Mrs. Margaret Howell of Williamsburg; four brothers, Henry L. 
Russell of Magnolia, Clinton B. Russell and Joseph D. Russell of Nansemond 
County, and W. Earl Russell of Suffolk; and nieces and nephews.

   The body will be taken from I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home to First Baptist 
Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday for a funeral service at 3 p.m. by the Rev. K. Donald 
Berg. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

J. Alfred Russell Succumbs at 69 

  James Alfred Russell, 69, president of the Midcity Land Co. and a past 
president of Suffolk Motor Co., died at 9:20 a.m. today in his home at 
Everett's Bridge, Nansemond County. 

  He was the husband of Mrs. Emma Williams Russell and son of the late 
Charles B. Russell and Nettie Ballard Russell of Gates, N.C. 

  He was associated with Suffolk Motor for 43 years and was a member of the 
First Baptist Church the Hoggard Sunday School Class, Suffolk Elks Lodge 685 
and Travelers Protective Association. 

  In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Raymond Brown 
of Ivor, Mrs. A.J. Woodhouse of Norfolk, Mrs. Margaret Howell of Williamsburg, 
and Mrs. J.W. Poulson and Mrs. J.W. Folk of Suffolk; four brothers, Henry L. 
Russell of Magnolia, Clinton B. Russell and Joseph D. Russell of Nansemond 
County, W. Earl Russell of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews. 

  The body will be taken from the I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home to the First 
Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. 
Wednesday conducted by the Rev. K. Donald Berg.  Burial will be in Holly Lawn 
Cemetery.

ALFRED RUSSELL 

  A funeral service for James Alfred Russell, who died Monday, was conducted 
Wednesday afternoon at First Baptist Church by the Rev. K. Donald Berg. 
Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. 

  Pallbearers were Joseph D. Russell Jr., James F. Russell, William E. Russell 
Jr., Robert L. Russell, William T. Lassiter, Allen J. Woodhouse Jr., Russell 
K. Gray, John D. Howell Jr., Ronald H. Williams, and Robert R. Gray. 

  I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
