James Alfred Russell, 69, president of Mid-City Land Corp. and an automobile dealer here 43 years, died Monday at 9:20 a.m. in his home in Everetts Bridge. He was the husband of Mrs. Emma William Russell and a son of Charles B. and Mrs. Nettie Ballard Russell of Gates County. He was born in Nansemond County. For 43 years, he was president of Suffolk Motor Co. and recently was still associated with the firm. He was a member of the L.L. Hoggard Sunday school class of First Baptist Church, Suffolk Elks Lodge 685, and Travelers Protective Association. Besides his widow, surviving are five sisters, Mrs. J.W. Poulson, and Mrs. _.W. Folk of Suffolk, Mrs. Raymond Brown of Ivor, Mrs. A.J. Woodhouse of Norfolk, and Mrs. Margaret Howell of Williamsburg; four brothers, Henry L. Russell of Magnolia, Clinton B. Russell and Joseph D. Russell of Nansemond County, and W. Earl Russell of Suffolk; and nieces and nephews. The body will be taken from I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home to First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday for a funeral service at 3 p.m. by the Rev. K. Donald Berg. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** J.
