SUFFOLK - George Earl Rogers, Sr., 73, 418-A Henry St., died Thursday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was a retired agent from United Insurance Co., a member of Suffolk Lodge 685, BPOE, and Post P of Traveler’s Protection Association. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Brittle Rogers; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah R. Bradley of Columbia, S.C.; one son, George E. Rogers, Jr. of Richmond; a brother, Rudolph F. Rogers of Huntington, W.Va., and four grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Rev. Dr. Robert B. Marr. Burial, with Elks rites, will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
