COVINGTON RICKARD Former Suffolk Resident Is Dead Mrs. Jenny Covington Rickard, formerly of Suffolk, died this morning at her home in Richmond after an illness of six months. She is survived by her husband, W.S. Richark [sic; Rickard] of Richmond; a daughter, Mrs. Lohman Reiter of Green Bay, Wisconsin; two sisters, Miss Fanny Covington of Norfolk and Mrs. Emmett Beale of Franklin; a brother, John R. Covington of Suffolk; two grandchildren; three cousins, Mrs. Henry S. Eley, Mrs. J.M. Hitch and Mrs. George Smith, all of Suffolk. She was a life long member of the Suffolk Main Street Methodist Church, a member of the Silver Cross Circle of the Suffolk King's Daughters and of the Daughters of the Confederacy of Richmond. The body will be brought here Saturday for funeral services Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Main Street Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MRS. JENNIE C. RICKARD Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Covington Rickard, wife of W.S. Rickard, who died at her home in Richmond of Thursday, December 16, were conducted at the Main Street Methodist Church, Suffolk, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock with the pastor, Rev. John H. Blakemore, officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Mrs. Rickard, who spent a large part of her life in Suffolk, was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church, a teacher in the Sunday School, and a member of Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters. A daughter of the late Albert B. Covington, a prominent North Carolina lumber dealer, and Mrs. Jennie Twilley Covington of Pocomoke City, Md., she came from a long line of prominent Methodists. Her grandfather, Rev. George Covington, was one of the early circuit riders of the Eastern Shore. Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Lohman Dale Reiter of Green Bay, Wis.; two grandchildren, Lohman and Ellen Twilley Reiter; two sisters, Mrs. Emmett B. Beale of Franklin and Miss Fannie Covington of Norfolk; and a brother, John R. Covington of Suffolk. She also leaves three cousins in Suffolk, Mrs. Henry Eley, Mrs. J.M. Hitch and Mrs. George Smith.
