[sic; J.] Richards Funeral Sunday Funeral services for William James Richard, 85, who died at 12:15 a.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.L. Thompson, Sr., 314 Cedar Street, will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at at the I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. George Alley, pastor of Suffolk Christian Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Masonic Rites at the graveside. A member of the Suffolk Christian Church and the Baraca Sunday School Class, he was the husband of the late Rosa Emma Jones Richards and the son of the late John James Richards and Mary Louise Turner Richards of Isle of Wight County. He was employed by the Virginian Railroad for 32 years and retired in 1937. He was the oldest member of Masonic Lodge No. 30, A.F. and A.M. of Suffolk and received his 60-year pin in 1950. Other than the daughter with whom he made his home, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. W.M. Aston Sr. of Buckhorn; two sons, Curry Richards of Suffolk and Earl Richards of Norfolk; one brother, E.L. Richards of Durham, N.C.; twelve grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
