ELIZABETH RIDDICK. We regret to annonnce the death of Mrs. ELIZABETH RIDDICK, which sad event occurred on Sunday morning last at her residence near Cypress Chapel. While surrounded by weeping children and friends, the angel of death entered the sorrowing circle and releasing the spirit of the deceased from her suffering body, bore it away with an angelic convoy to the eternal mansions on high where sickness, sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more. Thus passed away from death unto life, one of the most devoted mothers. Sister Riddick was born in the year 1806 and in the year 1825 was united in the bonds of matrimony to Captain Jethro Riddick, who preceded her to the grave several years since. The deceased professed religion and joined the Baptist Church in 182_ [misprint], and lived a Christian life with charity toward all and died in triumph. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom are still living; three of them having preceeded her to the grave. During her long illness, she was most tenderly nursed by her younger daughter and the children all vied with each other in making their dear mother as comfortable as possible, and all that could be done was done to alleviate her sufferings and smooth her path way to the tomb. The funeral took place at the late residence of the deceased on Monday morning last, the services being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Walker, of the Christian Church at Suffolk. At the conclusion of the solemn service the remains were deposited in the old family burying ground. Thus has passed away as pure a Christian lady as ever lived. The world is poorer indeed to-day, for the Master has called a jewel home. To the bereaved relatives we extend our deepest sympathies. Your mother having fought the good fight has gone to wear the crown. Emulate her noble devotiou to duty, her christian charity, her pious walk with God, and bye and bye you will meet her on the other shore where parting is no more.
