RHODES DIES IN COUNTY Funeral for Prominent Farmer and Nansemond Citizen Tomorrow James E. Rhodes, 77, a prominent farmer and citizen of Nansemond county since birth, died at his home hear Myrtle, Va. yesterday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock after a long illness. He is survived by seven children, five daughters. Misses Anne, Margaret, Elizabeth and Sarah Rhodes, all of Nansemond county, Miss Bertha Rhodes, of Norfolk; two sons, J.E. Rhodes, Jr., of Norfolk, and E.C. Rhodes, of Carrsville, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Stella V. Holland, of Holland; three brothers, J.L. Rhodes of Chuckatuck; R.H. Rhodes of Portsmouth; J.H. Rhodes, of Edenton, N.C.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel Christian Church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Rhodes Funeral Rites Are Held Yesterday WALTERS, Oct. 10 - (Special) - Funeral services for James E. Rhodes, of Nansemond county, were conducted at Mount Carmel Christian church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb, of Richmond, former pastor of Colosse Baptist church, and the Rev. Elisha Bradshaw. Burial was made in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** J. E. Rhodes Suffolk, Oct. 6 - J.E. Rhodes, 77, died this afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at his home near Myrtle. Mr. Rhodes had been ill for some time. He was a representative citizen of Nansemond County where he had resided all his life. Survivors include five daughters, Misses Anne, Margaret, Elizabeth and Sarah Rhodes of Nansemond County and Miss Bertha Rhodes, of Norfolk; two sons, J.E. Rhodes, Jr., of Norfolk, and E.C. Rhodes, of Carrsville; one sister, Mrs. Stella Holland of Holland; three brothers, J.L. Rhodes, of Chuckatuck; R.N. Rhodes, of Portsmouth, and J.H.
