W. P. Riddick Dies In Home at Whaleyville 

  W.P. Riddick, prominent citizen of Whaleyville, died at his home Sunday 
night at 10 o'clock after a long illness, aged 53 years.  He is survived by 
his widow, Mrs. Martha Riddick, and four children: Miss Agnes Riddick, Miss 
Willie Cross Riddick, Miss Melwyn Riddick and Gordon Riddick, of Whaleyville; 
two sisters, Mrs. Molly Ethridge of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Mrs. Walters, 
of Drum Hill, N.C.; two brothers, G.W. Riddick, of Tarboro, and J.W. Riddick, 
of Drum Hill, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the 
residence, conducted by the Rev. J.R. Taylor, assisted by the Revs. J.S. 
Maxey, H.C. Horner, and Dr. I.W. Johnson.  Interment will be in the family 
cemetery.

His father William Henry RIDDICK was a Confederate veteran, having served in 
   the 6th Battalion NC Infantry.
