EZRA THOMAS ROWELL 

   Funeral services for Ezra Thomas "Jake" Rowell, aged 74, were held Monday 
afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Purviance funeral Chapel, with Reverends R.E. 
Brittle, R.A. Richardson and Jeff Monroe officiating.

   Mr. Rowell was a native of Southampton County, a resident of Zuni for over 
50 years and a retired railroad man.  He was a member of the Tucker Swamp 
Baptist church, Blackwater Masonic Lodge, No. 134 and Woodman of the World.

   He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bernice Bowden Rowell, one son, E. Clyde 
Rowell of Portsmouth, and three grandchildren.

   Active pallbearers included Philip Worrell, Harold West T.M. Carr, Jr., 
Peter Carr, Roger Britt, T.V. Bradshaw, Dick Johnson and T. Harvey Crocker.

   Honorary pallbearers included members of the Blackwater Masonic Lodge, and 
other friends of the family.

   Mrs. Nan Seeley sang "Face to Face" during the services.

   Burial was in the Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk.
