All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JESSE LELAND REEL PORTSMOUTH - A funeral service was held today (Thursday) at Pentecostal Holiness Church, Deep Creek at 2 p.m. for Jesse Leland Reel, 61, who died Monday in a Portsmouth hospital after a short illness. He was the father of Jesse W. Reel, administer of Raiford Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Son of George Whitfield and Mrs. Lula Clifton Reel, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Blanche Griffin Reel. He was a native of Bayboro, N.C. and has lived in this section the last 55 years. He was a member of Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired last Friday as a leading man at Shop 31, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, after 30 years of service. Besides his wife, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. B.F. Pearson of Cradock, Mrs. N.E. Wilson of Portsmouth and Mrs. D.H. Wilkins of Silver Spring, Md.; six sons, Jesse W. Reel of Franklin, Luther M. Reel of Princess Anne County, James E. Reel of Deep Creek, Gene L. Reel of Charlotte, N.C., Jerry J. Reel, Army, California, and Harold W. Reel of Portsmouth; two brothers, George Albert Reel Sr. of Oak Grove, Norfolk County, and Marvin S. Reel of Corydan, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Estelle R. Kaufman of Herfsville, N.J. and 11 grandchildren. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
