All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RAWLES FUNERAL SUNDAY MORNING Last Rites For Aged Nansemond Resident At Holland Mrs. Sarah Cornelia Rawles, 85, prominent in the county, and widely connected throughout this section, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.J. Beale, in Holland, Va. Mrs. Rawles was twice married, her first husband having been William James Norfleet, of Sunbury, N.C., and of this marriage, were four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Mamie E. Holland of Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Novella Holland and Mrs. B.J. Beale of Holland, Va., Mrs. Charles Daughtrey, of Charlottesville, Va., L.J. Norfleet, of Hardeeville, S.C., and W. John Norfleet of Holland. Nine grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Rawles was later married to H.K. Rawles, of Holland, who preceded her to the grave. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. B.J. Beale, in Holland. Dr. N.G. Newman and the Rev. Carl Key will officiate. Burial will be in the Holland cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MORTUARY MRS. SARAH C. RAWLES Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah C. Rawles were held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. B.J. Beale, in Holland, conducted by Dr. N.G. Newman, the Rev. Carl A. Key and Dr. W.H. Corbitt. A quartette composed of Mrs. Vernon Holland, Mrs. J.O. Davidson, H.V. Holland and W.W. Darden, accompanied by Mrs. E.L. Rawles, sang the hymn, "The End of The Way." A poem was read, from "Her Girlhood Hymnal." The casket was covered with a pall of pink rose buds and fern. There were many handsome floral tributes. Active pallbearers were William Holland, J.T. Jones, Ernest Rawles, M.A. Cross, Howard Luke, Ayler Holland, Dr. John Norfleet, and J.B. Holland. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Interment was made in the Holland cemetery.
