Rountree, widow of W.J. Rountree, died at 1:45 a.m. today at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clinton C. Worrell, at Holland. She had been ill for several months. Surviving Mrs. Rountree are a daughter, Mrs. Worrell, a foster son, Carson Rountree, Whaleyville; two sisters, Mrs. A.M. Benton and Mrs. Julia Benton, Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rountree was a member of Whaleyville M.E. church and a charter member of its ladies aid society. The body was brought to Suffolk to await funeral rites Saturday. The funeral procession will leave I.O. Hill and Co., mortuary chapel at 3 p.m. for Whaleyville. Rites will be conducted by the Rev. J.S. Maxey, assisted by the Rev. W.H. Corbitt, at the Methodist church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MRS. ALICE B. ROUNTREE Funeral services for Mrs. Alice B. Rountree were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Whaleyville Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J.S. Maxey, and the Rev. W.H. Corbitt. Members of the church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Owen Parker, rendered the selections "Home of The Soul," "Beautiful Valley of Eden," and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." There were many floral tributes, the casket was covered with a spray of gladiolas and lilies. Active pallbearers were J.G. Glaus, Ralph Harrell, Elmo Worrell, George Smith, Tommie Horton, Owen Parker, S.E. Rountree. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Interment was in the church cemetery, in Whaleyville, Va.
