J. M. Rountree Dies at Home; Rites Tomorrow 

  John Montgomery Rountree, 63, a retired automobile mechanic, died last night 
at his home, 127 Beechwood Drive, Maple Hill, Nansemond County, after a long 
illness. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Hill Funeral 
Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church.  Burial 
will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. 

  A native of Alabama, he was the son of the late John Phillip [sic; "Jack" 
Jackson Philip] and Mrs. Emma Kane [sic; Cain] Rountree of Alabama.  He was a 
member of Savage's Methodist Church in Gates County, N.C. 

  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lessie Russell Rountree of the home, two 
sons, Raymond E. Rountree of the home and J. Melvin Rountree of Maple Hill; 
two sisters, Mrs. R.N. Rountree and Mrs. W.J. Rountree of Whaleyville, and a 
grandson, Monty Rountree of Maple Hill.
