George D. Alley, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church and the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Rountree, 62, of 901 North Carolina Highway, died yesterday at 7:15 p.m. in the Obici Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months. He was a native of Gates County, N. C., and was a prominent farmer and businessman of Nansemond County. He had lived in the county the last 39 years. He was a son of the late Willie and Mrs. Alethia Ward Rountree of Gates County. He was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edith Wilkins Rountree; one daughter, Miss Helen Rountree, and one son, Melvin Rountree, all of the home; one sister, Mrs. Nina Barnes of Suffolk; four half-sisters, Mrs. Mabel Dygert of Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. O.K. Thomas and Mrs. Louise Foster, both of Norfolk, and Mrs. W.H. Cartwright of South Mills, N.C.; one brother, Lonnie Rountree of Hertford, N.C.
