ROUNTREE Suffolk, Oct. 28. - Funeral services for William J. Rountree were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Whaleyville Methodist Church by the Rev. J.S. Maxey, assisted by the Rev. J.R. Taylor. Appropriate hymns were sung by the choir, and "Abide With Me," was sung by Miss Mildred Jones, accompanied by Mrs. J.T. Umphlette. There were many floral tributes. Active pallbearers were grandsons and nephews, W.E. and E.T. Harrell, Linwood, Kelly and Shirley Rountree, George Smith and Tommie and Robbie Horton; honorary, A.G. Whichard, Charlie Rountree, Dr. H.H. Hunter, Harry Taylor, J.L. Harcum, Charlie Baker, Alto Byrd, Jadie Byrd, Alva Byrd; J.C. Russell, E.A. Brothers, Ernest Lowe, H.E. Savage, J.H. Vaughn, Charlie Taylor, H.K. Parker and George G. Smith. Burial was in Whaleyville Cemetery. Nathaniel, b. ca. 1814, the son of William III & Phelitia/Letitia (BAINES) ROUNTREE, 2m. widow Mary Ann (LASSITER) RIDDICK 10 Jan 1867 in Nansemond Co.
