SAVAGE WHALEYVILLE - Mrs. Emilie Taylor Savage, retired Whaleyville High School teacher died at 4 a.m. today (Friday) in a Richmond nursing home after a long illness. A native of Harrellsville, N.C., she taught school at Whaleyville for 37 years. She was a member of the Whaleyville Methodist Church, the Wesley Bible Class of the church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service (WSCS). She was the widow of William Henry Savage and a daughter of the late Rev. Charles R. and Mrs. Hattie Weaver Taylor. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. Ray Hopkin of La Grange, Ill., and Mrs. Jarvis T. Ellis of Wilmington, Del.; three sons, Charles T. Savage of Richmond, William H. Savage of San Francisco, Calif., and Robert S. Savage of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Rufus Riddick of Hertford, N.C.; and nine grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Whaleyville Methodist Church by the Rev. W.T. Kessler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral [Home] to the church at 3 p.m. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Ellis in Somerton.
