A native of Nansemond County and a prominent farmer, he was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church, Whaleyville, and its Men’s Bible Class. He was a member of Woodmen of the World. Son of the late Arn Horace and Mrs. Margaret Roberta Rawls Savage, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maie Ashburn Savage; two sons, Horace E. Savage Jr. of Virginia Beach, and Joseph A. Savage, of Nansemond county; five sisters, Mrs. J.R. Morgan, of Suffolk, Mrs. A.J. Rountree, of Nansemond County, Mrs. Rupert Pierce, of Newport News, Miss Eulalia Savage, of Norfolk, and Miss Louise Savage, of Charlottesville, a nephew, Paul Leroy Copeland, of Nansemond County; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in Great Fork Baptist Church Thursday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. E.A. Malik, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery. The body will be taken from I.O. Hill & Co.
