All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SIMON SAVAGE WHALEYVILLE WRINKLES May 16 - Mr. Simon Savage, whose illness was reported through the HERALD, died in his home, near Whaley station, on Tuesday, May 1, 1900. Mr. Savage was one of the oldest men in this vicinity, having nearly reached his four- score years. He was a quiet, good citizen, industrious and attended strictly to his own affairs. He was a good husband and a kind father, and leaves to mourn their loss an aged widow, one son (Mr. John L. Savage), four daughters, and a number of grandchildren. His funeral was preached on Wednesday afternoon at his late residence, by Rev. W.E. Allen, of the Methodist Church. There is a SAVAGE family cemetery behind the Mack Benn Jr. Elementary School, 1253 Nansemond Parkway (Hwy 337), but one one grave remains marked- see Nansemond Co.
