All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ OBIE SHEFFIELD DIES IN ROANOKE Retired Lumberman Dies at 52 Obie Willard Sheffield. 52, retired Suffolk lumberman, died last night at a veteran's hospital in Roanoke following a long illness. He was the son of the late William and Lucy Sheffield of Sussex County and for 15 years was manager of the Suffolk Lumber Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, of the American Legion, Post 57, and former member of the Suffolk Lions Club. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Willie McDonald Sheffield; a daughter, Miss Margaret Byrd Sheffield; three brothers, Charles H. Sheffield, of Waverly, Harry R. Sheffield, of Springfield, Ohio, and A.D. Sheffield, of Jacksonville, Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will arrive tonight at the Baker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held there at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. J. Lester Lane, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
