Scott, the well liked young foreman of the Virginia Manufacturing company, met his death today in a tragic way. Mr. Scott was in charge of unloading a car full of logs. He had undone the larger standard on one of the car sides. The other one being weaker, broke and the log supply was precipitated upon Mr. Scott about 7 o’clock this morning, crushing his skull and body. Mr. Scott died about 11:30. He lived with his family at Morgan Street and Johnson Avenue. The funeral will take place tomorrow. The dead man was among the most popular official and foremen of the Virginia Manufacturing company. His untimely death is much mourned. ****************************************************************************** FUNERAL OF G.W. SCOTT - SUFFOLK BUREAU Suffolk, Va., Sept. 14 - G.W. Scott, the man who was killed Thursday morning by being struck on the head by a heavy log falling from a car, was buried this afternoon. The funeral took place at the residence at Johnson Avenue and Morgan Street. The Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley conducted the services. The interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The pall-bearers were : W.J. Waters, J.B. Price, Charles Tucker, L. Citizen, O. Harrell, Y.R. Gurley. Honorary: John Johnson, Eddie Small, E.G. Privott, J.T. Bradshaw, F.O. Ford and J.T. Cross.
