Mrs. Scott Dies Tuesday 

  Mrs. Mary Dempsey Scott, 43, a resident of the Lake Prince area, died 
Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Obici Memorial Hospital after an illness of several 
weeks. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Baker Funeral 
Home by the Rev. C.B. Beale, pastor of the Church of God.  Burial will be 
in Holly Lawn Cemetery. 

  She had been a resident of Nansemond county for the past six years and 
was a member of the Church of God on Kilby Ave. 

  She was a daughter of the late John L. Dempsey and Virginia Crabb Dempsey 
of Harriman, Tenn. 

  She is survived by her husband, Brinkley C. Scott; a daughter, Mrs. Marion 
V. Kincaid of the home; three sons, Brinkley D. Scott, USA, stationed at Fort 
Bragg, N.C. and Roy D. Scott and Jimmy C. Scott of the home; three sisters, 
James Ray of Huntsville, Ala; Mrs. Mabel Whitaker of Dunnellon, Fla., and 
Mrs. Estelle Cohoon of Columbia, N.C.; three brothers, Floyd Dempsey and Lee 
Dempsey of Huntsville and Jack Dempsey of Eustis, Fla.; 11 half-brothers and 
sisters and three grandchildren.

   He is buried with his second wife in Taylor Cemetery, New Market, AL.

Her widower was b. in 1922 in Ellenton, SC, & d. in 1979 in Monterey, CA.
