MARGARETTE DUCK STEPHENSON 

  WHALEYVILLE - A funeral service for Mrs. Margarette Duck Stephenson, 58, 
was held Wednesday, March 20, in I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk. 
The Rev. Thomas M. Mishoe Sr. and Rev. O.R. Hardy officiated.

  Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.

  Pallbearers were: Joseph A. Savage, Daniel Harrell, Jack Copeland, 
Thurman G. Copeland, Stanley Gomer, James Rawls Beale, Charles Harmon and 
Bedford Caldwell, Jr.

  Mrs. Stevenson, of R.F.D. 1, died in the Nansemond Convalescent Center.

  A native of Nansemond County, and the widow of J. Burgess Stephenson, 
she was the daughter of the late Putnam Owen Duck and Mrs. Margarette 
[sic; Margaret] Elizabeth Duck.

  She was a memer of the Great Fork Baptist Church, the Ester Bible Class, 
and the Women's Missionary Society of the church.  She was also a member of 
the Liberty Spring Home Demonstration Club.

  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carl McArthur Peters of Whaleyville, 
and Mrs. Robert Lee DeBord of Suffolk; sisters, Miss Nancy Victoria Duck, and 
Mrs. N.W. Willis of Sedley, and Mrs. Hugh Gwaltney of Windsor; and a brother 
P.O. Duck Jr. of Sedley; and one granddaughter.
