STEPHENSON Suffolk, Nov. 14. - Mrs. Martha V. Stephenson, 79, widow of J.W. Stephenson, died this morning at 5 o'clock at the home of her son, J.S. Stephenson, near Windsor, after a long illness. She is survived by five daughters and two sons, Mrs. W.J. Wilson, of Norfolk; Mrs. G.E. Madison, of Windsor; Mrs. H.L. [sic; H.S.] Luke of Myrtle; Mrs. J.W. Warren and Mrs. J.T. Holland, of Windsor; W.J. Stephenson, of Richmond, and J.S. Stephenson, living near Myrtle. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence near Windsor by the Rev. J. John, son of Exum & Mildred "Milly" STEPHENSON, & Jennie, daughter of William & Polly (GAY) ARCHER, m. 23 Dec 1875. (Nansemond Co. #80) D.Cert. 26360 (Chuckatuck #17) gives daughter of William & Polly (GAY) ARCHER. Martha & John m. 23 Dec 1875. (Nansemond Co. #80) Widowed, Martha appeared in the 1930 Census, Chuckatuck Dist., Nansemond Co., her son John Sidney on the Windsor Hwy., on Farm #118. Her son John Sidney STEPHENSON is buried in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
