Steele, Windsor, Dead WINDSOR - Dr. Frank Ivan Steele, 65, a practicing physician here since 1930, died at 12:25 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A resident of N. Court St., Windsor, he had been in failing health for some time. He was a member of the staff and had served as chief of staff of Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Elgood, W.Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Anna Bell MacDonald Steele and a son of the late Martin Luther and Mrs. Mary Ellen Motley Steele. He was a member of Windsor Congregational Christian Church and the Men's Bible Class of the Church. He was also a past deacon and past superintendent of the Sunday School of the church. He was a member of the Medical Society of Virginia and was a member and past president of the Tri-County Medical Society in addition to his staff position with Obici Hospital. Dr. Steele was a former member of the Town Council of Windsor. He was a member of Purdie Masonic Lodge No. 170, AF & AM, Windsor; Portsmouth Commandery No. 5; Mt. Nebo Royal Arch Chapter No. 20, Suffolk; and Norfolk Khedive Temple. Dr. Steele attended Davis-Elkins College, Elkins, W.Va., and the University of Virginia. He was graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1929 and also did his intership there. He opened his Windsor medical practice in 1930. Besides his wife, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Weyland Thomas Joyner Jr. of Hampden-Sydney and Mrs. Francis Marshall Joyner Jr. of Moorestown, N.J.; one son, Frank Ivan Steele, Jr. of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. E.E. Moughiman of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Marian Pyles of Richmond and Mrs. Harry Doner of Dailey, W.Va.. and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home, Suffolk, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. W.A. Grissom. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit of Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. Members of the Medical Society of Virginia are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
