STURGEON BURIED SUNDAY SERVICE HELD AT 3:30, WITH INTERMENT IN CEDAR HILL CEMETERY Funeral services for Mrs. Willa Rawles [sic; Rawls] Sturgeon, wife of Howard Elbert Sturgeon, and a prominent member of the younger social group of this city, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the funeral home of I.O. Hill and Company by Dr. H.J. Goodwin, and the Rev. A.L. Franklin. A quartet composed of Mrs. R.H. Harrell, James Moore and W.J. Work, accompanied by Mrs. W.J. Work, sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The casket was covered with a pall of red rosebuds, Dutch iris, lilies of the valley and fern, and there were many other handsome floral designs. Active pallbearers were Claude Dennis, Jr., Jack W. Nurney, Dr. G. Richardson Joyner, P.M. Burton, W.C. Gatling, J.R. Shryer, Duke Hosier, and John Eley. Member of the American Legion Auxiliary in which Mrs. Sturgeon held a membership, attended in a body. Friends and neighbors served as honorary pallbearers. Interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
