SIMPSON CHESAPEAKE -- Francis Owens [sic; Owen*] Simpson, 83, of 3204 Battlefield Blvd. South, Hickory, died Tuesday at 1 p.m. in a nursing home after a long illness. A native of Whaleyville, he lived in this area most of his life. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Ninon [sic*] Williams Simpson. He was a member of Congregational Christian Temple of Norfolk, Berkley Pythian Lodge, and United Commercial Travelers Association. He was a retired advertising manager of Economy Food Stores, Inc., and for many years was a salesman for Ballard & Ballard Flour Co. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frances Roane, and a sister, Mrs. L.D. Edmonds, both of Chesapeake; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
