Smith, of Somerton, VA., and Mrs. Laura Smith of Suffolk, died this morning at a local hospital, at 3 o’clock in the 25th year of her age. Miss Smith, who was one of the most popular young business women of the city, was stricken with typhoid fever two weeks ago, and had been critically ill from the first. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Laura Smith, one sister, Miss Ella Mary Smith, and a brother, Richard Leonard Smith, and two nieces Louise and Eliza Smith, all of Suffolk, and a number of relatives in the county. She was a member of Oxford M.E. Church, and took an active part in all branches of the church work, especially in the women’s societies. The funeral will be held at Oxford M.E. Church, Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Dr. J.T. Bosman, assisted by Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The pall-bearers will be: Active - C.F. McKay, S.P. Hill, J.T. Freeman, J.E. Hines, J.P. Cross, F. Lloyd, E. E. Jones, A. B. Ballard. Honorary - H.B. Cross, Dr. H.W. Campbell, Dr. J.E. Rawles, R.L. Brewer, J.C. West, George Lawshe, H.S. Eley and D.T. Johnson.
