Mrs. Exelena [sic*] Smith Buried Yesterday 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Elexena Wright Smith, who died Wednesday morning 
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Neb Burden, on the Wilroy Road, were 
conducted yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the I.O. Hill Funeral Home by 
the Rev. Duane N. Vore. 

  Mrs. Willard Hart played "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Sometime We'll 
Understand," on the organ.  Mr. Vore read "Beyond the Horizon," "There is no 
Death," and "Crossing the Bar." 

  The pall was of pink roses and white carnations.  Pall bearers were Arthur 
Burden, Marvin Williams, Jimmie Ward, Ryland Branch, Roy Mathews, George G. 
Johnson, J.T. Pinner, H.C. Duke, R.C. Burden, and R.L. Traylor.

   WRIGHT, 12 Jul 1866 in Nansemond Co.  The Nansemond Co. M.Reg. (1866 #34) 
   gives her as Elizabeth GRIGGS - a clerical error - but as daughter of 
   Sylvester & Mary WRIGHT.  Elizabeth d. 18 Jan 1878 in Isle of Wight Co. 
   Nat 2m. Elizabeth's sister Sarah C.J.Q. WRIGHT, 18 Apr 1878 in Nansemond 
   Co.  (1878 #45) 

The 1870 Census - Newport Dist., Isle of Wight Co. - gives Ida T., age 2. 

Her given name also appears as Alexina, Alexzina, &c.
