SMITH Funeral services for Charlie E. Smith were held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the Suffolk Christian Church conducted by Dr. John Q. Truitt, Dr. H.J. Goodwin, and the Rev. J.W. Largent of Portsmouth. The church choir, accompanied by Mrs. C.R. Wallace, sang the hymn, "Old Rugged Cross," and a solo, "Sunrise Tomorrow," was sung by Mrs. Vernon Holland, accompanied by Mrs. Wallace. The casket was covered with a pall of red rose buds and ascension lilies. Active pallbearers were R.O. Luter, J.S. Morgan, D.H. Howell, Dr. J.F. Cross, E.H. Rawles, S.B. Carter, Ralph Eley and Harvey Brown. Interment was in Cedar Hill cemetery.
