EUGENE RANSOME SMITH

FUNERAL RITES HELD AT BETHLEHEM

   Funeral services for Eugene Ransome Smith were conducted at Bethlehem 
Christian Church at 3:30 p.m., yesterday by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, Dr. 
H.J. Goodwin and Dr. I.W. Johnson.  During the service the church choir, 
accompanied by Mrs. Harry Schadel, sang "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder," 
"Going Down the Valley," and "God Will Take Care of You."  Rev. Brittle sang, 
"Sunrise Tomorrow."

   The casket was covered with a pall of white iris, carnations and blue 
delphiniums. Active pallbearers included E.C. Luke, Horace Copeland, Clayton 
Joyner, Curtis B. Smith, Courtney Smith, Pvt. S.J. Smith, D.C. Butler and 
Smith Joyner, nephews of the deceased.  Honorary pallbearers included the 
deacons of the Bethlehem Church, the Taylor Progressive Bible Class and 
friends.  Interment was made in the church cemetery.
