He was the husband of Mrs. Oria Parker Rountree Smith and son of the late John Thomas Smith and Mrs. Allie Collins Smith. He was a native of Nansemond County and a member of Somerton United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class. Besides his wife, he is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. Anne R. Wiley of Suffolk; three step-sons, Manley E. Rountree of Holland, William Philip Rountree of Suffolk and Holmes H. Rountree of Eure, N.C., and one brother, Travis D. Smith of Portsmouth. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Somerton United Methodist Church cemetery.
