SMITH DIES OF INFLUENZA FUNERAL FOR FROMINENT SUFFOLK WOMAN TO TAKE PLACE TOMORROW Suffolk, Va., - Feb. 4 - Mrs. Laura Boswell Smith, 86, widow of the late Robert R. Smith and one of Suffolk’s most prominent and well known women, died at her home, 210 North Main Street, last night shortly after 8 o’clock, following a long illness. Mrs. Smith who was in feeble health was taken with an attack of influenza about 10 days ago and recovered from the disease but was left in a weakened condition and gradually grew worse until the end came. She was a daughter of the late Mills C. Daughtrey and Margaret Patience Daughtrey of Suffolk and had lived in Suffolk her entire life. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a member of the church organizations and had a large circle of friends in Suffolk and in this section. Mrs. Smith is survived by a half brother, Colonel John B. Pinner; a number of nieces and nephews, among whom are Simon M. Lawrence of Suffolk, Mrs. S.E. Haynes of Norfolk, Mrs. George E. Roulette of Hagerstown, Md., Edward Hayes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lawrence Haynes of Chestnut Hill, Pa., Jesse Lawrence of Richmond, Mrs. J.C. Uhlarik of New York, Mrs. Sam Plummer and Rev. Colgate Daughtrey of Newport News, Charles Daughtrey and J. Woodley Daughtrey of Newport News, John E. Pinner and Miss Katherine Pinner of Suffolk, besides a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock, and will be conducted by Rev. H.N. Tucker, rector of the church, assisted by Rev. J.B. Dunn of Richmond, former rector of St. Paul’s. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Judge James L. McLemore, Paul T. Cohoon, Frank A. Holladay, J.T. Withers, A.H. Hargrave, James H. Corbitt, John B. Norfleet, M.M. Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family. Laura Boswell (DAUGHTREY; Mrs. Robert R.)
