Mrs. Smith, a native of Southampton County who had lived in this area all her life, was the widow of Wesley Smith. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Virginia S. Jenkins of Arlington, Brenice S. Lewis of Portsmouth, Evelyn S. Harrison of Chesapeake and Shirley S. Carpenter of Goshen; a sister, Texie Hathaway of Norfolk; a brother, Leroy Harcum of Windson; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday in Jackson Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, from 7 to 9 pm today.
