SMITH CAPTAIN SMITH, WELL KNOWN HERE, IS DEAD Franklin people will regret to hear of the death of Captain W.G. Smith who died at his home in Suffolk Monday, aged 79. Captain Smith was for more than 30 years connected with the Albemarle Steam Navigation Company of this town, being master of the Steamer "Keystone" for many years, and later captain of the "Nanticoke." He numbered many friends here and along the several routes of the local steamboat company where he was universally liked and esteemed. Capt. Walter Glazebrook SMITH, former steamboat captain, Nansemond Co. native, d. 16 Oct 1933, at home, Suffolk, age 79, interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block C, Lot 10*), Suffolk, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Oct. 20, 1933, p. 3 *His parents, George R. & Judith E. (KILBY) SMITH, are also buried there.
