SAUNDERS DIES, AGED 82 Suffolk, Nov. 28 - Mrs. Augusta Parker Saunders, 82, widow of Benjamin L. Saunders and member of an old and prominent Nansemond county family, died this morning at 4:45 o’clock at her home, 204 South Saratoga Street, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Dr. Richard E. Parker, for many years a widely known physician of this community, and Mrs. Sarah Franklin Parker, and had spent her life in Suffolk. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. Surviving her are a son, Leon Saunders, who made his home with his mother; two daughters, Mrs. William M. Crumpler, St., and Mrs. Alvin Grant, all of Suffolk; four grandchildren, William M. Crumpler, Jr., Misses Barbara and Jane Grant and Margaret Saunders, and a great-granddaughter, Miss Viola Janice Crumpler; three sisters, Mrs. Etta E. Brooks, of Sunbury, N.C.; Mrs. Frank L. Nicholson, of Norfolk, and Miss Minie Parker, of Suffolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with Dr. Samuel T. Habel, pastor of West End Baptist Church, officiating. ****************************************************************************** Saunders Rites Are Held Today SUFFOLK, Nov. 29. - Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Parker Saunders were conducted at 3:30 p.m. today at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery by Dr. S.T. Habel, pastor of the West End Baptist Church. Dr. Habel read the hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross." The casket was covered with a pall of red roses and active pallbearers were E.E. Jones, J.R. Vann, George F. Whitley, Jesse A. Harrell, M.L. Bowden, Olin Hines, R.P. Boyer and Floyd Oliver. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers. Augusta E.* (PARKER; Mrs. Benjamin L.)
