JOSEPH BRITTON SAUNDERS 

FARMER DROPS DEAD ON WAY TO BREAKAST 

  Suffolk, Sept. 12. - Joseph Britton Saunders, a well-known farmer, of 
Nansemond County, dropped dead this morning at 6 o'clock, as he was going to 
breakfast at his home near Providence Church.  Mr. Saunders was 60, and is 
survived by his widow, Mrs. Nimmie Saunders, and two daughters, Mrs. Lizzie 
Weaver and Miss Susie Lee Saunders. 

  The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the 
grave in the family cemetery.

  James [sic; Joseph] Britton Saunders. - The funeral services of James 
Britton Saunders, who died suddenly at his home near Providence Church, were 
held Wednesday afternoon at the grave in the family cemetery, conducted by 
Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley.  The pallbearers were: Richie Saunders, P.T. Wright, 
N.J. Boyce, Dennis Clements, H.L. Saunders, Willie Lassiter, M.C. Wright, W.T. 
Wright, L.W. Williams, Jack Woolford, A.T. Turner.

He is buried with his brother Adolphus & sister Charlotte.  The cemetery is 
   located on the Marvin WHITLEY farm, Lake Prince. 

D.Cert. 20338 (Chuckatuck #263) gives son of Joseph and Martha Ann (HARGROVES) 
   SAUNDERS. 

His widow Nimmie J. (WRIGHT) SAUNDERS (1855 - 1926) was buried in 
   Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
