Mahlon H. Elliott, pastor of Oxford Methodist Church. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery with Elks rites at the graveside. Mr. Elliott read a poem entitled "Come, Ye Disconsolate." Mrs. Claudia Jacobs played two organ solos,"Just As I Am" and "Whispering Hope." The casket was covered with a pall of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums, yellow roses and yellow carnations. Pallbearers were Dr. M.M. Bray, Robert T. Naylor, T.C. McNew, John B. Spires, Jr., J.J. Burke Harlan, James B. Bolton, Coleman Davis, Gilmer Evans, James E. Kirkman, Jr., and Norman L. Daughtrey.
