All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANNIE RUTH MILES ALEXANDER TURNER Mrs. Annie Ruth Turner Suffolk, Sept. 1 - Mrs. Annie Ruth Turner, 67, of 1806 Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk, a former resident of Suffolk, died today at 5:45 a.m. at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks. She was the widow of William D. Turner, of Suffolk, and daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mrs. Delphia Luke Miles, of Nansemond County. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Robert Stout, of Norfolk, Mrs. Curtis Boyce, of Suffolk, Mrs. James D. Antonious, of East St. Louis, Ill., and Mrs. L.A. Parlin, of Spring Valley, Calif.; one son, Harvey Lee [sic; Wesley] Alexander, of Sidney, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. C.P. Powell, of Suffolk, and 10 grandchildren. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Duane N. Vore, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MRS. ANNIE TURNER Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Ruth Turner, who died Monday morning at the Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the I.O. Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Duane N. Vore, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church, and Dr. Frederick H. Jones, supply pastor at the West End Baptist Church, conducted the service. The Rev. Vore read Tennyson's poem "Crossing the Bar." The pall was of red roses, Rubrium Lilies, white gladioli and white asters. Pallbearers were A.T. Boyce, Whit Mumford [sic; Munford], Marvin Howell, Vernon Ford, Jack I. Jones, Arthur Herrick, Melvin Lovelace and Ashby Miles. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
