UZZELLE DEAD Suffolk, Va., Nov. 28. - Algy L. Uzzelle, one of the most popular and efficient police officers of the city of Suffolk died today at a local hospital in the 36th year of his age. The deceased had been a member of the Suffolk police force for seven years, and was esteemed by his fellow officers and by the public generally, as a faithful, courteous and kindly officer. He is survived by a widow, who was Miss Underwood, and one little daughter, Louise Uzzelle, his parents Mr. and Mrs. John S. Uzzelle, of near Exit, Nansemond county, and by three sisters, Misses Elsie and Pocahontas Uzzelle, and Mrs. G.L. Gwathmey [sic; Gwaltney]. He was a native of the county, but had lived in Suffolk for the past ten or fifteen years. The funeral services will be held at Antioch Christian church Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, by Rev. H.H. Butler, assisted by Rev. R.M. Maxey and Dr. W.W. Staley. The choir of Main street M.E. church will sing. The request of the deceased to be buried in his uniform will be carried out, and the active pallbearers will be his fellow officers. The interment will be made in Antioch Christian Church cemetery. ____________ ****************************************************************************** MORTUARY ____ ALGY UZZELL Suffolk, Va., Nov. 30. - The funeral of Patrolman Algy Uzzelle were held today at Antioch Christian church, conducted by Rev. H.H. Butler, assisted by Rev. R.M. Maxey and Dr. W.W. Staley. The Main Street Methodist church choir sang. Mrs. Henry S. Eley rendered the solo, "Someday, We'll Understand," and the choir sang "Abide With Me" and "Asleep in Jesus." An escort of Suffolk policemen acted as pall-bearers, and the mayor and several officals attended the services.
