Gene Thomas Underwood, a 24-year-old carpenter, has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his 18-year-old wife, Sandra Ann, at a Nansemond County residence Thursday night. Three shots from a .22 caliber pistol were fired about 9:05 p.m. Thursday at the rear of 1501 Holland Road, and one of them struck Mrs. Underwood in the left breast, said Deputy Sheriff Shannon Cisco. She was dead on arrival at Obici Memorial Hospital. Cisco said the Underwoods, residents of 218˝ Chestnut St., Suffolk had driven with their daughter, Angela Ann, 4 months, to the home of Mr. Underwood’s sister, Mrs. Robert W.
