[sic; S.] Urquhart Democratic Committee to Decide the Method of Making Nominations - Wood Famine Imminent - Brief Items of Personal Interest. Suffolk, Va., Feb. 11. - Mr. George B. Urquhart is dead. The end came at 5 o'clock this morning at his home on Hall avenue. Mr. Urquhart couldn't sleep well last night, and he arose early. He took a seat on a chair, and in a few minutes the chair held a corpse. Death came quickly and silently. Mr. Urquhart was unwell a few weeks ago, but had recovered. His decease was a shock to his friends. Heart disease caused it. The funeral will take place at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the residence. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mr. George B. Urquhart was a native of Southampton. He graduated at the Virginia Military Institute, and shortly afterwards entered the service of the Confederate States. He was a camp drill master and later a staff officer. The latter part of his life, till four years ago. when he moved to Suffolk, was spent in Jackson, N.C. The deceased was a well liked, amicable, honorable man, whose untimely end will cause much sorrow. The members of Suffolk Lodge, No. 30, A.F. and A.M., will conduct the exercises. The deceased was a member of King Solomon Lodge, No. 56, at Jackson, N.C. HAD MANY RELATIVES. The deceased leaves a widow, who was Miss Sue Peebles, of Jackson, N.C.; three children - Miss Sue and George Urquhart, of Suffolk, and Henry M. Urquhart, of Norfolk; the following brothers: Judge J.W. Urquhart, Norfolk; M.M. Urquhart, Suffolk; A.B. and W.H. Urquhart, Southampton county, and these sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Dillard and Mrs. E.C. Atkins, Sussex county; Mrs. Lucy Ridley, Portsmouth. There are hundreds of more remote kin. [...] SUFFOLK ADVERTISEMENTS. Suffolk, Va., Feb. 13. - Suffolk is snow-bound, storm-swept and practically isolated. At 12 o'clock midnight the Norfolk and Western 10 o'clock train has not come. Some of the railroads have stopped all trains. At this hour the weather has cleared and the thermometer stands 6 above. [...] FUNERAL. George was a Confederate veteran. A VMI cadet, he was detailed to Camp Lee, Richmond, as a drill master, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was paroled at Appomattox. His widow "Sue" Susan Blunt (PEEBLES) URQUHART (1849 - 1937) applied for a pension 24 Jun 1926 in Suffolk.
